With a Bachelor’s degree in piano from Ohio State University and a Master's degree from Yale University, Dr. Nelly Case went on to earn a Ph.D. in musicology at Boston University. For 25 years she was Professor of Music History and Theory at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music. She also worked for several decades as a church organist and choir director, and as a violist in a number of professional orchestras, including the Columbus Symphony, the New Haven Symphony, the Waterbury Symphony, the Orchestra of Northern New York, and the Roswell Symphony. Author of two biographies - Worry Early (the watchword of famed choral conductor Brock McElheran) and Helen Hosmer: the Spirit of Crane - she now divides her energies between Los Alamos and New England, spending time with family and participating in multiple music ensembles.
